Dvoracek still on long road back

Rob Dvoracek was on the fast track from the time he joined the Temple University football team. The linebacker was one of only three true freshmen to play in every game in 2012 and he was slated to start at middle linebacker in 2013. But the last two years have been a series of setbacks for the Allentown, Pa. native.

RB Zaire Williams back healthy, more mature

At the end of Tuesday’s practice, the entire Temple football team did sprints sideline to sideline. Redshirt sophomore running back Zaire Williams finished first every time. With his back and mind both sound, Williams is looking to lead the way this season. A bulging disk in his lower back ended his true sophomore season at just one game after he ran for 533 yards his first year.

Temple’s bittersweet NIT run continued on Wednesday night as the Owls drilled Louisiana Tech, 77-59, in a quarterfinal game. After being snubbed by the NCAA Selection Committee 10 days ago, Temple received a No. 1 seed in the NIT. It won three times at the Liacouras Center and now will meet Miami (Fla.) next Tuesday at Madison Square Garden as part of the tournament’s Final Four.
